Seven trainees make up the latest BasWorx cohort including Megan Blackwell our first female trainee.

BasWorx was set up with Basildon Borough Council at the start of our 10 year integrated asset management contract in July 2016 to help provide meaningful work opportunities and traineeship for Basildon residents. To date 19 people have been trained through the BasWorx programme, with eight progressing to full time employment.

The new cohort will spend the next three weeks in the classroom working toward their CSCS card, gaining practical painting and decorating and multi trade skills to achieve the BTEC L1 in construction. Trainees will also be supported with functional skills and employability skills.

After the first three weeks they will have the opportunity to complete work experience with Morgan Sindall, and to interview for apprenticeship vacancies on completion.

Amy Ross, CSR Director said: “I’m pleased to be welcoming a new intake of local candidates who are eager to gain their first taste of work in the industry. BasWorx has become more widely recognised in the borough with the quality of the training and the progression route to apprenticeship opportunities appealing to local residents. Many of the candidates in this cohort have been waiting several months to enrol and are very motivated. I look forward to seeing the individuals in this cohort change and progress as they develop their skills and workplace behaviours.”
