Morgan Sindall Property Services supported Basildon Councils ‘Love your Borough’ event this weekend, taking the opportunity to promote BasWorx, our newly formed social enterprise.

BasWorx is an independent commercially sustainable organisation which sets out to generate meaningful work opportunities to those who reside in the borough of Basildon and beyond, developing the potential of future employment.

Amy Ross, Community Gateway Manager for BasWorx attended the event along with Sam Terrell, Senior Economic Development and Regeneration Officer for Basildon Council. They spoke to the general public about the initiative and took down details from people interested in joining the programme.

The programme enhances technical skills, instills work place behaviors and combines these with supported training in Math’s and English. Under the guidance of Morgan Sindall’s qualified and experienced trade professionals, trainees will have the chance to deliver exterior and interior decorating work including painting, carpentry, plumbing, and general repairs and maintenance. The aim is to ensure trainees leave the high quality work programme prepared for the next step in their development and ready for the world of work.

BasWorx sets itself apart from existing schemes in the area by being accessible to those from all age groups and backgrounds who are motivated to enter employment or to retrain.

Amy Ross, Community Gateway Manager for BasWorx said: ‘We want to change perceptions about the industry, and will go the extra mile to diversify opportunities. I am really excited to be part of such an innovative and rewarding initiative.’
