Harry has had a few jobs since he left school; mainly in the service industry. His longest stint was at Unbar Rothron in Billericay as a Warehouse Operative. However, he has worked as a labourer on site before and had already obtained his Operative’s CSCS Card before joining MSPS on the BasWorx Traineeship.
He heard about the BasWorx opportunity through an internet search and successfully applied.
The traineeship started on 24th July at the Barleylands Depot for an initial two weeks’ training with the MSPS Training Provider, Ixion. Following the two weeks of classroom based learning, it was time to venture out on site and put his newly learned skills and knowledge into action. This involved preparing and decorating the internal corridors of the Council offices at the Depot.
Kwaku, Harry’s Tutor, said “Harry has shown good hand skills and has shown great knowledge and understanding. He has good team working skills and a great attitude and behaviour. Well done!”
Bill Warren, the BasWorx P & D Supervisor added “Harry has been an excellent addition to the team since joining us out on site at Bradwell Court; he works hard and follows instructions and is really interested in learning. He is developing excellent skills and learning all the time”.
Harry says that he is much happier with ‘hands on’ work and when the opportunity arose for a Painting and Decorating Traineeship with Morgan Sindall, he jumped at the chance. He continued “I believe that BasWorx is a really good opportunity for me and I hope to carry on into an Apprenticeship in September when the initial eight week traineeship is over. I’m hardworking, good at communicating and listening to instructions and I’m good at working in a team”.
